VRT and Appiness, the start-up that developed the app Spott, will continue a pilot project that lets viewers interact with the content of their favorite programs. The app underwent a first testcase with VRT Sandbox, during which program makers were able to use the app in their production flow.
Spott creates a whole new viewing experience by combining online inspiration with watching television. Viewers of the tv-channel één will be able to discover products, brands and characters via the app. The project enables VRT to not only research the impact of an interactive viewing experience, but also investigate whether the used technology lowers the threshold to donating to a cause.
The technology was initially tested with the tv-shows Dagelijkse Kost and Thuis. With the pilot project, viewers will also be able to get inspired by programs as Beau Séjour, Reizen Waes and Zie Mij Graag.
